Letters, 1786-1787, from William Fogg of Fredericksburg, Va., to his brother in Exeter, R.I., inquiring about the political situation in Exeter; relating the severe weather and flooding in the Fredericksburg area; commenting on the governor's proclamation concerning loyalists and mentioning that there are several in the Fredericksburg area; also mentioning an enclosed bill to be presented to Mr. Samuel Paine, a Boston merchant. Also concerns mounting debts and social upheaval; references to the expectations of the constitutional convention in Philadelphia; and a visit to Fredericksburg by General Washington to visit his sick mother; and also mentions the classical education of his children.
